Purpose of the Site
This site is for a discussion class on the United Kingdom. On this site you will be able to view the class reading reading assignment ( click Class Schedule tab) for each date. You will be able to view the power point presentation for each class after they are presented. ( click tab for each of the dates to view the lessons). On each presentation you will be able to and are are encouraged make comments and/or ask questions.Summary:
What can we learn
from famous God selected leaders who were bad parents, fearful, arrogant,“did their own
thing”, murderers, adulterers, genocide perpetrators, warriors, wealthy beyond belief, diplomatic
and wise? Did their culture and
circumstances have any resemblance to ourown? This is a discussion class covering the
United Kingdom and its kings. Though a
recent trip to Israel we
will bring the country and culture to life as we examine the lessons the people and leaders can teach us.
Class Goals:
1.Understand how God uses flawed individuals
to accomplish his purposes
2.Strengthen our faith by knowing God will be
with us even with our defects
3.Recognize that we have no defective or sin
that God cannot overcome
4.Gain a greater understanding of the culture,
geography, and people of the United
Kingdom period
5. Be able to apply the lessons of this Jewish
culture and history to our own culture and
situations
Class Type and Expectations:
Though background
and summary material will be provided, it is expected that each will read the assigned
material before class. This is a
discussion class where we will be probing important issues
and questions pertinent to our own day and time. It is not to be an abstract recitation of
biblical history, but will bring to life critical questions and answers. Note:
We may know the stories,
but what are the lessons?
